Jay-Z and Rihanna could once again be united in business together.

In 2005, Jay-Z signed Rihanna, born in Barbados, to Def Jam Records, according to Visit Barbados. Rihanna has gone on to build a legendary music career, producing hits such as “Pon de Replay,” “SOS,” “Work,” and “Love on the Brain.” Like Jay-Z, she used her music career as a launch pad to become a self-made entrepreneur. She is the proud founder of Fenty Beauty, Savage X Fenty, Fenty Skin, and Fenty Hair.

LVMH’s Stake In Fenty Beauty

Fenty Beauty was launched in 2017 with Kendo Brands, LVMH’s beauty brand incubator, and its valuation is reported to be between $1 billion and $2 billion, according to Beauty Independent. Forbes credits the venture with making Rihanna a billionaire. As AFROTECH™ previously reported, Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) holds a 50% stake in the venture and is exploring a sale with the help of investment bank Evercore.

MarcyPen Capital Partners is reportedly in the race to purchase LVMH’s stake in Fenty Beauty, per Beauty Independent. The venture capital firm backed by Jay-Z was formed after Marcy Venture Partners and Black-owned Pendulum Opportunities merged, as AFROTECH™ previously reported.

MarcyPen Capital Partners is reportedly exploring several financing options to acquire LVMH’s stake and is in talks with outside investors, notes Beauty Independent.
