Streamer University is back!

What To Know About Streamer University

Streamer University is a vision that Kai Cenat launched on May 22, 2025, at The University of Akron. Streamer University invites accepted creators with large or small followings to produce content on a college campus, as previously reported by AFROTECH™. Cenat invested his own earnings into Streamer University, Time reports. Cenat and brand deals helped cover the costs of flights, housing, and tech for the more than 120 creators who were selected from an applicant pool of more than 1 million, the outlet notes.

Cenat is opening doors for other creators to forge their own paths to success through Streamer University, which has garnered 27 million hours of viewing on Twitch, according to Time. Cenat is one of the top streamers, with 20.3 million Twitch followers (at the time of this writing) and was named among Forbes’ 2025 Top Creators list, ranked #28 with $8.5 million in earnings.

“I actually shed a little tear watching it because it was such a big moment, and I don’t think people realize how big it was for him to go live first and really set the tone and introduce the entire school, the things that they would be doing,” Brandy Merriweather, “The GenZ Publicist” and founder of BStarPR, who has experience working directly with streamers, told AFROTECH™. “

“That was a very selfless thing that he did … and he could have just had people start with their own viewers and have to kind of build and share audiences, but he used himself, literally, and his resources, for people to be able to have, not just tools, but insight with the professors, and then also obviously viewers by just distributing his,” she continued.

Streamer University Returns

Streamer University is now returning. Cenat, who had been on a break from Twitch, shared a video announcing her return, and it has been liked by 2.9 million users on Instagram alone.

Tip Before You Go

Those accepted should not neglect the power of collaboration, especially considering Streamer University alumni could be returning. Creators at last year’s Streamer University included ExtraEmily, Brooklyn Frost, India Love, Jay Cinco, Lala Baptiste, and FunnyMike. Members of AMP, a streaming group which Cenat is a part of, took on the role of professor. This included Agent 00, who taught a course on how creators can monetize through subscriptions, advertisements, brand deals, and other mediums.

“Streamer University creates a huge opportunity for content creators overall, but also people who obviously have been streaming for some years to really get the discoverability, the opportunity to be amplified with clippers, and the opportunity to collaborate,” Merriweather said. “One of the main things that helps creators grow rapidly is collaborations, and some people think they have to collaborate with celebrities to get additional visibility. That’s a strategy, but collaborating with other content creators and sharing audiences is literally a part of the formula that helps people grow audiences in real communities. I think Kai understands that formula.”
